Update on Feb. 12 Presidential Primary election results

By now you know that John McCain beat Mike Huckabee for the Republican nomination in Virginia by 51% to 40%. In the other race, Obama trounced Mrs. Clinton by 64% to 36%.

Several of my Republican friends told me they were going to vote Democrat, most for Obama. I guess they thought the Republican race was over.

In the 6th Congressional district, Mike Huckabee beat John McCain by 56% to 36%. In Virginia, the 5th, 6th and 9th districts went for Huckabee, while the other 8 went for McCain.

By Unit:

Botetourt went Huckabee over McCain 67% to 27%
Roanoke City went Huckabee over McCain 58% to 34%
Roanoke County went Huckabee over McCain 60% to 33 %
Salem City went Huckabee over McCain 59% to 35%

Some observations:

- Obama beat Mrs. Clinton in every one of Virginia's 11 Congressional Districts, except for one....the 9th District. And their Democrat Congressman Rick Boucher has come out supporting Obama. Might make for some interesting firework between Slick Rick and his supporters.

- In Roanoke County, Mitt Romney (who dropped out) beat Ron Paul, who is still in the race by 236 to 197.
